Marcus Love named Adams County
Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year

Marcus Love, a 7-year member of the Decatur B&G Club, represented the Boys & Girls Club of Adams County at the Youth of the Year state competition.  “I had a great time,” said Love. “It was an awesome experience.”

Boys & Girls Club members from around the State of Indiana converged upon Indianapolis to participate in the Youth of the Year competition on April 15 & 16.   These members were chosen from their individual B&G Club organizations as the best representative to advance to the state level of this competition.

Sponsored by BKD, LLP for the fourth consecutive year, the program recognizes outstanding contributions made to a member’s family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club, as well as the personal challenges and obstacles overcome by the Youth of the Year candidate.  By participating in the State Youth of the Year program, each youth received from BKD a $500 savings bond, as well as a keepsake item of the event.  In addition, BKD hosted all YOY participants for an evening of festivities at Dave & Busters the night before the competition.

Two Local Business Leaders Honored by
Boys & Girls Clubs of America

At the recent Boys & Girls Club Wine Tasting event at Marko’s on 2nd, two long-time advocates for the youth of Adams County were honored by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.  Kevan Biggs, President of Ideal Suburban Homes & Biggs, Inc. and John P. Kintz of Kintz Insurance Agency were awarded a National Boys & Girls Club Sliver and Bronze Medallion, respectively.

Both men were recognized by the National Awards Committee as volunteer board members of the Boys & Girls Club of Adams County for their dedication to the youth served by the Clubs, for their leadership, for their efforts in raising funds, and for their willingness to promote the work carried on by Club staff and volunteers.

BGCAC Board President, Armanda Turney, stated that “Kevan and John’s commitment to the youth of Adams County and their involvement in promoting the work of BGCAC made them excellent candidates for these honors.”
